A Brief History of the Building 1902: Andrew Carnegie gave $70,000 to the town to build the library. 1903: The cornerstone was laid. 1904: The new library held a grand open house. 1959: A new children's room was created from space formerly used as a storeroom. 1964: A Young Adult's Library was created, and the Adult Reading Rooms were remodeled. 1979: A three-story addition was built onto the back of the library. This library has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984. |
