A Brief History of the Building

1903:  Andrew Carnegie gave $10,000 to the town to build the library.

1904:  The new library opened on July 5.

1963:  A Children's Room was created in the basement.

1976:  The library trustees began developing a new building program, which was rejected twice at Town Meeting.

1987:  A new addition provided an elevator, a meeting room, and handicapped accessibility.

1994:  The library joined the Minuteman Library Network.

2004:  The 100th birthday of the library was celebrated on October 2.
