A Brief History of the Building

1903:  Andrew Carnegie gave $4,000 to the town to build the library.

1937:  An addition was built.

1950s:  An addition was built.

1975:  The library was expanded once again.

2008:  This library was awarded a construction grant of more than $4 million from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.  The hope is to build a larger facility on the existing site.

One of Andrew Carnegie's pet symbols, the rising sun, is captured in the library windows.
