A Brief History of the Building

1910:  Andrew Carnegie gave $110,000 to the city to build the library.

1915:  According to The Massachusetts Library Club Bulletin, March 1915 (vol.5, no.2, p. 36), "An autographed photo of Mr. Carnegie has been received by the trustees of the Brockton Public Library in response to a personal request.  The message written on the photo is 'Success to the Brockton Library.  May it prove a fountain from which blessed waters flow.' The picture will be framed and given a place in the trustees' room."

2003:  A large addition opened on July 15.  Burt Hill Kosar Rittlemann Associates were the architects.
