A Brief History of the Building

1918:  Andrew Carnegie gave $5,000 to the town to build the library.

1919:  The library opened on Saturday, December 12th without fanfare, in deference to World War activity.

2007:  The library was awarded a $40,000 Planning and Design Grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Both the interior and exterior of the library have changed very little since its opening.  The Soldiers Monument Association finished the basement early on.
